I've been here so many times and surprised I never wrote a review for this place. I'm home for the holidays and it's kind of a tradition to come here at least one night I am in town. We came in tonight at 6:45pm and there was a 30 minute wait for a table. Franklins is a cool spot because attached there is also a gift shop which has a lot to offer so you can definitely kill time there as you wait for a table. You can also get some of your holiday gift shopping done here too while waiting. They also allow you to have an adult beverage while browsing. Franklins is also known for their brewery and tonight I felt like having a beer, which has been months really and I ordered a sour monkey Belgian ale, a bit more bitter than I like, and a little flat, but it worked. We ordered a caesar salad with grilled chicken, crabcake with sautéed Brussel sprouts instead of slaw and a pecan bread pudding. Bread pudding was really good! Crab cake didn't disappoint and Caesar salad was fresh. Service was onpoint, food solid as per usual and ambiance is always nice. We always enjoy coming here and I'm happy to know that Hyattsville has a place like this. We will be coming here as long as it remains open.

Franklins General Store offers a cozy, homey atmosphere paired with an impressively endless menu. Dined with the hubby, and I decided on a glass of white wine, a 4oz beer and the catfish with gumbo, and they were absolutely delicious. The service was prompt and attentive, making the experience even better. Whether you're craving comfort food or just looking for a welcoming home like spot to dine, Franklins is a fantastic choice, be sure to check out the general store too while you're there!

My first visit here was EXCEPTIONALLY good. Our server was on top of it and entertaining. The food was incredible. I got the cubano with corn pudding. It was on par with the cubano at Porto's in LA which actually blew my mind. Second visit was awful. Our server was rude, we had to constantly track her down. It was extremely unpleasant and after our first trip, were SO excited to come back, now I doubt we will.

The staff was very friendly, the salads were impressive and the prices were quite reasonable. The veg burger I had could benefit from firmer 'structure' inside, but was very tasty.

I loved coming here- I hope you get to experience this place at some point in your life. Our server, Domonique, was probably one of THE best servers I've ever had. He was super knowledgeable and gave great suggestions while also being incredibly thorough & prompt. All our food came out super quick. I think the chili was my favorite part of the meal, along with the pretzel. I love onion rings, and I liked theirs (that horseradish sauce!!!), but maybe I just wasn't in the mood for them or the seasoning they pu. I liked tasting the spaghetti, which Domonique suggested we get, but I don't know if I would've wanted it to be my entire meal (very buttery, not as olive oil-y as expected). I would definitely come here again, and really enjoyed it greatly! The shop is huge and there's a lot to look at in there.

Decided to check this place out to meet a friend on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I've always went past this place, or seen the sign from the road but never checked it out until today! There is parking on the side of the building with an overflow area behind it. Parking is free on Sundays, otherwise you will pay to park Came in without a reservation @ 130p and was seated upstairs. Spacious. Plenty of tables. There is a bar area with about 3 TV's, space for large groups etc. Modern style and scannable menu's as well as paper menu Our waitress was nice, but seemed a bit annoyed I ordered an 8OZ ipa. It was really small. lol. My guest had the "tall" 16 inch beer, which was something that I would have wanted instead. I have the Private IPA and it was delish We shared a Margarita pizza. Big enough for 2 people. That was good. Alot of dining space also downstairs. I would come back and check this place out for Happy Hour if they have one

Franklin's has revamped some of its menu offerings and seating configurations on the main floor. Also, a new tiki bar is found outside. I'm still crazy for their onion rings. They're colossal-sized; the horseradish dipping sauce that accompanies them is slammin'. The fried chicken dish is ambitious, different. First, the chicken undergoes a "sous-vide" process, then fried until crispy. It's presented on a bed of delicately prepared swiss chard. There's an interesting hot, honey sauce thing going on with it, along with a side of mashed potatoes. The ruben sammie is classic and reliable. Franklin's is well known for its microbrewery located on the 2nd floor. Their homemade beers have won some significant awards. The beer sampler priced at $9 is a good deal; 4 beers come with it. Lastly, there's a funky general store. I'm happy that this local, unique and evolving food and retail business on Route 1 has survived the pandemic.
